Back To The Basics

By Bobbie Anne Williams, Marketing Assistant

It’s easy to get caught up in trying to create something new for your followers to engage with, but don’t forget the basics. Whether you’re new to creating social media content or you just need a refresher, save this for later because today we’re getting back to the basics by revisiting some marketing 101 tips!

There are many reasons why we recommend revisiting the basics, the most important reason being: you are gaining and communicating with new followers often. Not every follower knows your business or sees all of your posts.

Who

Who are you? What is your mission statement? We recommend revisiting these core questions at least once a month. Help build brand awareness by introducing yourself to new followers or get reacquainted with long-time fans of your business. You could have a client record a testimonial as well like we did here: We love Patty

What

What do you do? We know YOU know your business, but do your follower? Think elevator pitch- what problem do you solve? Try asking your employees what they would say about what your business does. It’s likely you will get a few variations from their different points of view. Use their responses as your content!

When

When can customers do business with you? As content creators we often focus on keeping our followers entertained, but now more than ever people are looking to social media profiles for business information. Be sure to sprinkle in some informational posts that include when you’re open or when you will be available for appointments.

Where

Where can customers do business with you? Just like you’ll need to remind customers of store hours, you’ll also want to include posts on where customers can find and shop with you! Remember, you could be talking to a new follower.

  • Do you have multiple locations?
  • Will you be featured at an event?
  • Have you moved your shop online?
  • Can they shop in an app?
  • Is your product available through multiple vendors?

Why

Why do you do what you do? Help followers better connect with your business by letting them in on the origin story of how your business started. Was it through necessity? A hobby that blossomed into a business? Tell them why you’re serving them.

Recently the Germono team got together to discuss our “whys”. Listen in on this 2 part conversation below to get a sample of how you can share your “why” with your customers.
