01 Apr “What Do I Post Today?”
By Justice Abbott
Creating content can start to feel repetitive or you may simply feel out of ideas. This is normal, it happens to all of us. We’re answering the common question, “what do I post today?” We want to share some fun tips and ideas for fresh, engaging content you can use in your social media plan when you feel like you’ve run out of ideas!
1. Post the interior of your business
This a quick and easy content idea that you can implement as early as today! If you’ve got a cool sitting area, offer wi-fi, or just have a nice space for clients or customers to hang out… you should be posting it! It’s likely that a lot of your followers are prospective customers who have never visited your business, so of course, they have no clue what it looks like or how cool it really is. This gives you the perfect opportunity to share some insight on what it looks like to visit your business.
We visited Sweet Beans coffee shop in Hampton and loved their sitting area. Give this content idea a try and let us know… maybe we’ll come get some work done there next!
2. Post about the “National Day”
If you can’t think of something to post, an easy solution is to research, “what is today’s national day?” This will give you ideas of something fun and new that your followers likely haven’t seen before. It’s okay if it’s unrelated to your business, sometimes users like seeing glimpses into your life outside of work. There’s always something fun happening, from things like “National Puppy Day,” to “National Donut Day”. Don’t hesitate to join in on the fun and post something in celebration of the national day!
3. Share A Post
As a business owner, it’s natural for you to browse social media, getting ideas and insight from other businesses or creators. Well, this is a convenient content idea that requires little, too no work on your end. Share a post! Yes, it might sound like taboo to share or support a competitors post… but, after all, it is called social media. If you stumble upon a post that really piques your interest or is well-written, it’s okay to re-post, re-tweet, or simply share it to your page (giving credit to the original source, of course).
Try sharing things that are related to your industry like research articles or infographics. This way, you’re still staying relevant to your business and followers while simultaneously mixing in some new, engaging content. Plus, supporting other businesses on social media will only encourage other businesses to support you in return.
4. Share A Fun Fact
It’s always a good to share a fun fact about your business that followers might not have known. This gives you something fresh to post and allows you to humanize your feed at the same time! Does your team work completely remote out of different time zones like ours? That’s content! Or maybe your business was started by your parents before being deeded to you? These interesting facts make awesome content for your social media because they give followers new information about you and your business and prompt them to engage with your post!
5. Share User Generated Content
When you can’t think of something to post, user generated content (UGC) is always going to be your friend! UGC is any content from text, videos, images, reviews, and so on that is created by your supporters, as opposed to content created by your brand. It’s advantageous of you to take a look at your Google, Yelp, or Facebook Page reviews and see what your customers are saying. Sharing this content gives prospective customers insight on the success of your business and let’s followers see REAL people’s feelings about your services! Ever looked at the Amazon reviews before purchasing an item? That is UGC, and you can see how much of a positive (or negative) effect it can have on someone’s decision to purchase a product or service.
